Community Civic Campus Public Meeting:Design Review BoardTuesday, February 19

Over the next few months, several community meetings will occur regarding the Community Civic Campus and Schematic Design. Schematic design is the first design phase where design options are explored that illustrate the general scope, scale, and relationship of project components.

As part of this process, the architects (SmithGroup) will advance the design of the Library & Recreation Building, Police, and Fire Stations, as well as the campus site.

Each building will be analyzed based on the technical aspects of the site, preferred spatial adjacencies, building circulation, building systems, and material aesthetics.

The SmithGroup will present design options to obtain further input on community preferences.

This was a little disappointing because I attended this Public outreach meeting and, when I arrived, I was told minutes before I arrived that it was a “revised agenda”, so there were, I believe, four developers presenting before the Community Civic Campus (Smith Team), and I was told the 4 p.m. start time was pushed to probably 5:45 p.m. after the others presented. However, it was not a review for the public, per se, of the schematic, but for the developers to show the Planning Department where they were fus far, and to get the green light to keep going.
